  • Korra Atiqtalaaq, also known by the pseudonym of Korra Tiriaq, was a human female Jedi Padawan of the Old Jedi Order who lived during and after the final days of the Old Republic. Born on the ice world of Higalik to Tonraq and Senna Atiqtalaaq, who would later become leading figures in her tribe of brith, Korra was taken into the custody of the Jedi Order at a young age, and remembered very little of her life on her homeworld. Korra was raised in the security of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, spending her childhood learning the way of the Jedi. At the age of 12, Korra was chosen by the Jedi Master Tenzin Gyat as a Padawan Learner, a role which she eagerly embraced. Although the Clone Wars were ongoing at this time, Tenzin and Korra were rarely called upon for duty, allowing them to progress with Korra's training relatively normally. In the final year of the war, Korra and Tenzin were called into active duty to reinforce Republic forces in the Outer Rim. Tenzin and Korra served in campaigns on Felucia, Balan-Quod, and Cato Nui during this time. While on Cato Nui, Korra and Tenzin were betrayed and attacked by the clone troopers they had served beside, as the newly-minted Emperor Palpatine enacted his purge of the Jedi from the galaxy. Korra was able to survive due to the sacrifice of her Master, and quickly fled Cato Nui. Settling on Ord Mantell, Korra spent the next decade living in seclusion, furthering her Jedi training to the best of her ability in private while taking jobs as a courier to make money. At some point, Korra informally elevated herself to the rank of Jedi Knight, but admitted to herself that it was an ultimately meaningless title in a galaxy without a Jedi Order. In 8 BBY, Korra had a run-in with the smuggler and confidence artist known as Bolin Iwamatsu, inadvertently interrupting a summary execution of the young man by local Imperial officer Shin. Korra was forced to use the Force to make good their escape, and realized that she would need to leave Ord Mantell to avoid the Empire. She subsequently joined Bolin on board the YT-2400 light freighter known as the Fire Ferret, along with Bolin's brother Mako, the droid R2-P4BU, and their pilot Asami.
