Children born to parents are born in triplets, one of each gender, though these are all cared for by the matriarchal gender. In Hydran society, it is the males who take command as well as technical positions while females take worker, pilot and soldier professions. Though this is generally the case, there are some females who take command positions and some had been known to even rise to the Hydran throne. This is not the case with the matriarchal gender though, as they are non-sentient and thus only useful for breeding as well as caring for the young.
- Prior to the events of Sonic the Comic, the Chaotix Crew managed to defeat Hydran and the Fantastic Four, sending them to prison. After four years they escaped, eager to get their revenge against the heroes. Upon storming Chaotix's Satellite Base, the team quickly gained the advantage in the subsequent fight, although Hydran was less than pleased that Flare's fireball nearly hit him, risking burning a hole in the suit. The pair settled their differences, with Hydran turning his attentions to strangling Mighty the Armadillo with his slender body.

Later, Hydran placed the Chaotix Crew in a liquidiser and prepared to kill them, only hesistating to find out where Charmy Bee had gone to. After a brief conversation, Hydran moved to activate the liquidiser but was surprised by a swarm of bees from The Hive crashing through the window. Their first move was to cut Hydran's suit in half with a pair of scissors, causing the watery villain to pour all over Gravel. The bees quickly began to mix the two together, before shovelling Squall onto the mixture. With a bit of heat from Flare, the four criminals were eventually turned into a piece of pottery.
