  • Orcish Onager
rdfs:comment
  • The Onager is a siege engine used from the time of the Roman Empire to the Medieval Period. It is a catapult which slings stones with tremendous force using torsional pressure from twisted ropes around the solid wooden frame. Sometimes those stones were covered in flammable substances and set ablaze before being slung. It was mainly used for besieging forts or settlements. The Medieval Europeans also developed an Onager, but it was weaker than the Roman Onager. It was named after the Onager, also called the Wild Ass, a type of equine native to the Middle East & Indian Subcontinent, noted for its kicking action, which the functioning of the machine resembles.
