Born and raised on Vall`to under the rule of the Tetrarchy of Mezlagob, Yossaia was the daughter of wealthy parents. Interested in fashion and beauty from youth, she worked as a model and minor actress before the Great Liberation. After the Golden Empire toppled the Tetrarchy, Yossaia used her trust fund and her own earnings to launch Hephary Beauty Solutions in 104 ABY. The company initially marketed to Humans and the alien species who resided on Vall`to, but Yossaia's business acumen and contacts in the fashion industry helped her quickly corner the market as new aliens moved to Vall`to under the Empire's more permissive migration policies. She hired a staff of chemists and biologists to help design cosmetics for all the various species to whom she could sell. In the early days of HBS, Yossaia often tested new cosmetics on herself, but as the company began to make a profit she hired research and development staffs and younger models. Hephary Beauty Solutions was strong enough to start competing offworld by 116 ABY. Rather than trying to compete with the high-end Mayalique, Yossaia intentionally aimed for quantity over quality, seeking to market to every species in the Empire. As CEO of Hephary Beauty Solutions, she authorized small subsidiaries on many of the Empire's member worlds, although those on Dolomir and Cioral eventually became sector distribution centers. In her personal life, Yossaia Hephary was well-known as a socialite, often appearing at exclusive parties, holofilm premieres, and expensive resorts. She owned three floors of a skyscraper on Vall`to, as well as various penthouses and apartments on other worlds of the Empire. By age fifty, she was on her third marriage and had two children. In response to frequent criticism of her exorbitant lifestyle, she founded Hephary Poverty Solutions in 137 ABY.
