The office is held by the Chief Executive Officer of the corporation currently holding the plurality of seats on the Federation Board. The chief executive holds the title "The Honourable", and ranks first in the East Asian Federation order of precedence. The current chief executive is Kumiko Akimoto. The Chief Executive of the East Asian Federation is the leader of the executive branch of the Federation Government, and oversees the execution of laws and policy created by the legislature, the Federation Board. The Chief Executive is designated as leader of the East Asian Federation armed forces, and executive orders to the armed forces are acted upon by the armed forces through the State Office of Defense and its State Officer. The Chief Executive's term last until the plurality government of his or her corporation expires, which has lead to terms as short as six months, or as long as ten years since the chartering of the Federation. Current Chief Executive Akimoto was elected in 2005. The Chief Executive is entitled to an office in the Executive Towers of the Federation Center in Seogyeong, and offices for his or her staff, for the life of his or her term. Benefits and compensation valued at 45,000,000¥ annually are awarded to the Chief Executive, including a 5,000,000¥ salary, healthcare, medical services, exclusive use of a modified Boeing 797 for long-distance travel, and a security detail for personal and family protection.
