Dorrity's debut came during the 1968 season, when he competed in the January Riverside event. Starting 33rd in the field, 33rd is right where Dorrity would finish after a disappointing differential issue early in the race. Dorrity's next event came during the 1969 season, when he competed at Riverside. Starting 20th in the field, Dorrity again finished right where he started - 20th - after a late engine issue ruined his chances for a greater finish. Dorrity stepped it up to a two-race schedule during the 1970 season, electing to competed in both Riverside races. He had a pretty decent run in the January event, racing from a 42nd place start to a 19th place finish despite late engine issues. The engine problems, though, hurt him in the June event after his engine let go after one lap to leave Dorrity in last (40th) place. Engine issues proved to be the bane of Dorrity's 1971 season as well, when he yet again competed in both Riverside events. All in all, he only got to complete 74 laps total during the year, as the mechanical woes dumped him to 28th in the January event and 33rd in the June show. Dorrity's final two races came during the 1972 season, when he not surprisingly competed solely at Riverside. More mechanical woes hounded Dorrity, especially in the January event when ignition issues left him 33rd. Engine issues again appeared in the June race, but late enough so that Dorrity could close out his career with a career-high 18th place finish.
