The platoon got its start during the Xen’Chi War where it became common practice for missions to have terrible odds against the invaders. Under Clara’s command, the Flares actually thrived while attempting what was often thought to be impossible. As the war came to a close, Clara retired from military service, but the name of the platoon stayed and their reputation for getting the impossible done remained.
