  • Elfride Margarete Butre, occasionally spelled "Butry", better known as "Ganny El", was the widow of Michael Parmley and the leader of the Butre Clan in the early 20th Century PD. She and her husband were successful freight brokers, and amassed a small fortune, which Parmley eventually turned into a much larger one playing the Centauri stock exchange. However, they lost almost all their money trying to launch a freight company that could compete with the established competition in the Core trade. Butre herself was a Prolong recipient and still looked young long after her husband's death, compared to her children and grandchildren who never received prolong. She did her best to keep the clan and Parmley Station, her family's bankrupt orbital amusement park, intact. She was also an accomplished pilot. In 1921 PD, the Beowulfan Biological Survey Corps made a contract with Butre to turn the station into a secret fortress for their anti-slavery effort. In return, all members of Butre's clan still young enough were sent to Beowulf to receive Prolong Treatments. (CS2)
