The show originally aired from Granada's Albert Dock Studios in Liverpool on 3 October 1988. It features celebrity guests, entertainment, and various other features - in short, a mix of consumer show and Variety Show. The current presenters are Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby who are on Monday to Thursday. Eamonn Holmes and wife Ruth Langsford are on air every Friday and also deputise Phillip and Holly respectively. If any of the four presenters are off or unavailable a guest presenter will co-present This Morning. Famous ones have included Gethin Jones, of Blue Peter fame.

This Morning now airs daily on ITV at 10:30am till 12:30pm featuring news, topical items, showbiz, style and beauty, home and garden, food, health, real life and more similar features. Since 2010, during the summer, This Morning Summer has aired on the same channel at the same time slot. It is generally a continuation of the same format effectively making the show a year-round broadcast, featuring Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford as the main presenters and guest presenters on a Friday. This Morning is one of the longest running daytime programmes on British television, and celebrated 25 years on air in 3 October 2013 with the programme returning to its original home of Liverpool.
