  • Brother Tollum was a fat, mournful-faced squirrel and the bellringer of Redwall Abbey. He enjoyed satiric poetry, and planned to enter a very long ballad titled The Bellringer's Burial in the Bard o' Redwall contest, but never got the chance. When Globby the Ravager locked himself in the Abbey attic, Tollum swung in through the window to retrieve information from the young stoat. Unfortunately, Globby was armed with a kitchen knife, and sank it deep into the squirrel's midriff, mortally wounding him. Suddenly rigid with pain, Tollum's outstretched paws smashed into Globby's chest, right below his throat, breaking the stoat's windpipe and killing him.
