| abstract | - The Themis-class Corvette is a uncommon type of Corvette used by the UNSC for close in maritime security and safety missions in close proximity to planetary bodies. The Themis-class is fitted with additional launch bays and additional crew space, along with an expanded medical bay and brig. The Themis can, thus, preform two expanded functions. Its first, and most commonly defined role, is a common patrol craft, often working in concert with faster patrol ships. Since it can carry more drop ships on-board, it can send more troops across for search and seizure missions. This allows it to preform multiple searches at once, or adequately search a much larger vessel than what is capable by a regular Corvette. Its secondary role is as a maritime rescue and disaster relief ship. With its expanded launch bay and expanded medical bay, it can often get to disasters faster than larger ships and can send out numerous rescue teams. As such, if a ship is in trouble near a planet, or further into space, the Themis can get there first to evacuate the crew and prepare for the arrival of larger rescue ships. When a planetary disaster occurs, a Themis-class can often be the first on the scene, bringing initial rescue teams and supplies.
