  • Mal’Ganis est un Seigneur de l’Effroi qui planifia le Fléau de Lordearon. On entendit parler de ce personnage pour la première fois, lorsque Arthas Menethil rencontre le nécromancien Kel’thuzad. Ce dernier proposa au prince « de se rendre à Stratholme pour y avoir une confirmation ». Une fois rendu à Stratholme, le paladin put voir Mal’Ganis transformer le peuple en morts-vivants. Il avait l’intention de les rassembler pour former une armée gigantesque, que même Arthas ne pourrait arrêter. Le prince préféra tuer lui-même son peuple plutôt que de le voir devenir esclave dans la mort. Arthas mit à mal les desseins du Seigneur de l’Effroi. Mal’Ganis choisit la fuite vers Northrend et le défia d’y amener son armée. Plusieurs mois plus tard, Arthas et l’armée de l’Alliance étaient enfoncés dans les terres du « Toit du monde ». Mal’Ganis encercla la base du jeune prince avec une immense horde de morts-vivants. Malgré les attaques incessantes du Fléau, l’Alliance réussit à défendre son bastion. Le paladin s’empara de Frostmourne et écrasa l’armée mort-vivante. Enfin face à face, Mal’Ganis le félicita d’avoir récupéré l’épée runique « au prix du sacrifice de ses camarades ». Ces éloges n’atteignirent point Arthas, il n’entendait plus que la voix du Seigneur Noir (Le Roi Liche). Celui-ci lui dit d’assouvir sa vengeance. Mal’Ganis comprit tardivement que l’heure de sa mort avait sonné. Lors de la rencontre entre Arthas (désormais Chevalier de la Mort) et Tichondrius, on aurait pu se rendre compte que Mal’Ganis n’était qu’une vulgaire marionnette. On peut le retrouver dans l'extension "Wrath of the Lich King" dans l'instance "L'épuration de Stratholme". Il apparait également à la fin d'une série de quêtes, accompagné d'une incroyable révélation...

Arthas and an entire army of soldiers chased Mal'Ganis to the north, where they fought his undead legions. Arthas and his friend, Muradin Bronzebeard, came across a mystical sword called Frostmourne, which Arthas took as his own and used it in battle. Arthas and Mal'Ganis met once again near the sacred Troll temple known as Drak'tharon Keep. In their final battle, Arthas thought he had killed the demon, but it was far from over... Years later, during the War in the Frozen Wastes, Mal'Ganis returned disguised as the human, Admiral Barean Westwind. He used this disguise to secretly rule over the Scarlet Onslaught and use them as his puppets until he could kill Arthas, now the Lich King, and have his revenge. Unfortunately, a rebel group of Death Knights known as the Knights of the Ebon Blade learned of his presence, and sent in adventurers to put an end to his evil. The adventurers assaulted Admiral Westwind's hideout, and killed many of his most powerful warlocks. Westwind and the heroes had an epic battle, and Mal'Ganis was forced to remove the disguise so that he could be at full power. He was defeated, but escaped to the Twisting Nether, swearing revenge on the Lich King AND them. When the Infinite Dragonflight sent in a strike force back in time to the raid on Stratholm in an attempt to kill Arthas, the Bronze Dragonflight sent 5 heroes to the same time to defeat the Infinites. They aided Arthas in fighting Mal'Ganis's evil minions, and eventually fought the demon himself. In the end, Mal'Ganis escaped to Northrend, and time itself was saved.
