| abstract | - "Voodooite" was the name given to the humanoid inhabitants of a class M planet located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, which was likewise given the name "voodoo planet". They practiced rituals similar to Earth's voodoo. In the 23rd century, Count Dressler fled Earth to the planet, which was known to be hostile to Earth, where he soon took control of the natives, learned their occult secrets and became their leader. In 2266, he began using this knowledge to destroy papier-mâché landmarks on a papier-mâché Earth with a laser, which caused the destruction of the corresponding landmarks on the real Earth. When the USS Enterprise tracked the source of the laser, Dressler's men used voodoo dolls against Captain James T. Kirk and Spock and imprisoned them in a cage. Later, the natives tried to stop Kirk and Spock from capturing Dressler, but they beamed away in the nick of time. (TOS comic: "The Voodoo Planet")
