  • The Second Battle of Csilla was the final major battle of the conquest of the Chiss Ascendancy. It saw the Ascendancy's surrender to and incorporation into the Golden Empire. Having routed the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force headquarters at Naporar and sacked the two CEDF bases at Kinoss and Cormit, the Empire's fleet had thrown the Ascendancy's defenses into disarray. Tariun Sakaros, the Empire's Prime Legate, had been studying Chiss battle tactics while harassing the Ascendancy's shipping and routing Colonial Phalanges on outlying worlds. Feeling confident in his knowledge of their strategies, he pulled the fleet together and launched a final attack on Csilla.

Reeling from the unpredicted assaults on the two staging bases and the fall of Defense Command at Naporar, the Chiss had initially centered much of the remaining CEDF forces at Csilla. However, raids on shipping and other colonies eventually forced the Chiss Syndic and Aristocras to detail some of Csilla's defense fleet to guard duty. It was when Csilla's force had been reduced to 530 ships that the Empire attacked. The battle for control of Csilla raged for five days, in space and on the planet's surface. Rin Sakaros used Battle Meditation to undermine the resistance of the Chiss leaders and bolster her own forces. A force of Royal Army soldiers and Centurions landed on the surface, engaging the Chiss defenders for three days before finally toppling the planetary shield generator in Csalpar. A group of Centurions led the capture of the House Palace and arrested the Chiss Parliament and Cabinet. Tariun Sakaros had arranged lines of battle to intercept inbound reinforcements for the capital. Hundreds of ships arrived within hours, while others trickled in over the following days. With a fleet of nearly two thousand functional capital ships, plus those boarded and captured during the battle, the Empire's blockade proved to be unbreakable. On the fourth day of fighting, the Royal Army captured the heads of the Ruling Families and forced them to surrender. Some Chiss refused to stand down, but the Empire was in control of Csilla's defensive fortifications and simply turned the planetary shields off, opening insurgents to orbital bombardment. By mid-morning of the fifth day, the last pockets of Chiss rebels had submitted to the inevitable and the planet was under the control of the Empire.
