Piper immediately blows up Salek who believes that it's already too late to save her since they needed another Whitelighter. Luckily Mikelle who had been turned into a Whitelighter orbs in and heals her.
  • Salek was the Vulcan from the 24th century. Salek commanded the starship T'Kala on a mission from Vulcan to Earth in 2376. He was killed along with the entire crew of the T'Kala when it was destroyed by the Vendoth Armada while on course to Earth. (Star Trek: Unity (crossover): "United We Stand - Together")
  • As of 2374, Salek held the rank of Commander, and was assigned to the Starfleet Corps of Engineers. He served as first officer of the USS da Vinci, and the head of that ship's SCE team. (SCE eBooks: The Belly of the Beast, War Stories, Book 2) Salek died in late 2375 (circa 52698.1), when he sacrificed himself to deactivate an alien vessel called Dancing Star, as well as to defend the da Vinci from a Cardassian warship, the Grach'noyl. (SCE eBook: Collective Hindsight, Book One)
  • The Kanohi Salek is the Mask of Dread. It allows the wearer to give a foe horrid nightmares. When used at full power, it can potentially drive a person insane. It can also be used to send mental messages through dreams. However, it is powerless when an opponent is fully awake. This mask always operates on a low level. As such, it cannot be used to drive a victim to the made to point where they become comatose. The more powerful variation of the Salek worn by Eostra Nihiltian allows her to project the power of the mask onto beings who are both awake or asleep.

  • As of 2374, Salek held the rank of Commander, and was assigned to the Starfleet Corps of Engineers. He served as first officer of the USS da Vinci, and the head of that ship's SCE team. (SCE eBooks: The Belly of the Beast, War Stories, Book 2) Salek had joined the S.C.E. as a lieutenant commander, against the advice of his sister, who instead suggested he join the all-Vulcan crew of the USS T'Kumbra. Salek rejected this advice, being unconcerned about working amongst emotional races, and also due to the fact that the T'Kumbra offered no opportunity for advancement. (SCE eBook: War Stories, Book 2) Salek died in late 2375 (circa 52698.1), when he sacrificed himself to deactivate an alien vessel called Dancing Star, as well as to defend the da Vinci from a Cardassian warship, the Grach'noyl. (SCE eBook: Collective Hindsight, Book One) In an alternate universe accessed by an interdimensional Androssi device, Salek survived into late 2376, and served as Captain David Gold's executive officer aboard the USS Gettysburg. (SCE eBook: Lost Time) Salek is described in War Stories as "mahogany-skinned"; however, the Vulcan depicted on the cover of Collective Hindsight, Book One -- confirmed by series editor Keith R. A. DeCandido as being Salek -- has a paler skin color.

The more powerful variation of the Salek worn by Eostra Nihiltian allows her to project the power of the mask onto beings who are both awake or asleep. While a useful mask, it takes much training and mental skill to use it properly. The legendary version of the Salek generally requires beings with advanced mental capacities to be used efficiently, and those who lack such discipline may be driven insane whilst trying to master the mask's power.
