He became managing director of Edmonds Brothers, owners of two large department stores in Wood Green and president of Wood Green Chamber of Commerce. He expanded the company to become Edmonds, Denham & Goyder Ltd with eight shops in various locations in Greater London. He moved to Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, becoming an alderman on Oxfordshire County Council.
