The XJD's cofounder Du Changhao has championed free market capitalism and a form of liberal conservatism, whereas co-founder Raoguo Jixu has advocated for social liberalism and welfare statism. The NPP identify themselves as progressives, although some have stated that they have often advocated neoliberal economic policies.
