  • William George Ridland Ball (1882 - 11 June 1974) was a businessman and local politician active in the Greenwich area. Born near Devonport, he moved to London in 1904 to manage a shipbuilding company. Resident at Charlton, he became a partner in Wood and Ball, sales engineers and managing director of Rosyth Shipbreakers Limited. He held a commission in the Territorial Force, reaching the rank of captain during the First World War when he served with the Royal Garrison Artillery in Palestine and France. He was buried in Charlton Cemetery.
