He was a member of the Belgian National Team at the Olympic Games in 1924 and 1936 and also appeared at five European Championships and three World Championships. At the club level, De Ridder played for various teams in his native Belgium from 1922 to 1940. He also competed in speed skating and bobsleigh at the 1924 and 1936 Winter Olympics.
