| abstract | - Alan Cowan appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in August 1989 as the Driving Examiner who supervised Sally Webster's practical driving test; and he returned to the programme in September 1996 as Simon, a dentist who met up with Maureen Holdsworth on a blind date. Graduating in Drama from Manchester University, his other credits include roles in Crown Court, Take Me Home, Game On, Nelson's Column, The Knock, The Broker's Man, In the Red, Baddiel's Syndrome, Coupling, Hollyoaks and the films Buster and Beautiful People. On stage he has appeared in productions of Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, Loot and Kes.
