There are numerous reasons for a character's marriages to repeatedly fail. Sometimes a needy best friend drives a wedge. Sometimes the character is still to devoted to a lost loved one. In both comedies and dramas, the character is often part of a Dysfunction Junction. Bare in mind that a marriage doesn't necessarily constitute a divorce.
