| abstract | - Kayla Baron is a notable character that appeared on Season 3 episode Pretty Dead. Kayla is the wife of business mogul Victor Baron - both are the sponsors of Baron's All-American Beauty Pageant. Kayla herself was a beauty queen and that is how she met her husband. When one of their contestants, Amber Middleberry, is murdered, she and her husband are the first ones interviewed by Beckett and Castle, but both Barons have solid alibis at the time of the murder. Victor tells them that Candace Ford will give them the information they need. Both Beckett and Castle notice that Victor and Kayla are complete hypocrites, because when cameras are present they are devastated over the death of Amber, but once the cameras stop rolling, they only care about their business. When Castle and Beckett find pictures of Amber completely naked, Castle realizes that the pictures were taken at Victor's Hamptons House, so they deduce that Victor was blackmailing Amber and that he killed her. When they go to confront him about the murders, Kayla becomes enraged about the pictures, because she didn't know about them, and because a naked woman was in her bed. Victor, however, reveals that Amber and her boyfriend took the pictures, and they were the ones blackmailing him to name Amber the winner of the pageant. When Beckett asked him where he was the day the pictures were taken, he says that he was with Kayla all the time; a furious Kayla confirms that Victor was with her. At the end of the episode the real murderer is captured and both Kayla and Victor are cleared of all suspicion.
