  • Clicking on the treasury will bring up a panel, where adjustments can be done. A slider can be pulled to the left or the right, depending on the measure of the dividends/taxes needed to handle. By default, it is set to 'no tax'. Both bribes and taxes are deducted/collected each month. Taxes can be raised by pulling the slider in the right. These can vary from 'low' to 'very cruel' range. Higher taxes mean more money per peasant, but accordingly, it will generate unpopularity. The 'very cruel' range will allow the maximum amount of gold, but it decreases overall popularity with -16.
  • The treasury allows you to store extra gold. It costs 200 Gold/tile, and allows you to store 3000 gold on each tile. A treasury can be any shape and size. The Treasury is where your Imps stash the Gold and gems that they’ve mined and where your creatures come each ‘pay-day’ to receive their ill-gotten gains (wages). You can manually pick up Gold using the Hand of Evil, and drop it into the Treasury to be added to your coffers. If the Treasury is full, the Gold can be stored in the Dungeon Heartthough if this, too, is full, then it is left where it falls and fails to register in your total wealth.

  • The Treasury, in addition to being a source of culture points, plays a role in the endgame. It is the place where World Wonder plans are kept; and additionally, it allows you to see where all the World Wonder plans are currently located. In versions of the game before 3.1, there were additional artifacts besides the World Wonder plans; these are not present in 3.1 However, in Travian 3.5, various artifacts have been introduced for the mid-game and end-game. For small Artifacts (including WW plans) a level 10 Treasure Chamber is required. For large Artifacts a level 20 Treasure Chamber is required. In 3.5 you can build a Treasure Chamber in any of your villages. In order to win the game, an alliance must possess two World Wonder plans; two players within the alliance each must hold one. One of those players (the player building the World Wonder) must be the owner of a World Wonder plan. Plans are initially held in Natarian villages. They can be retrieved by a hero, launched in an attack from a village with a level 10 Treasury, once the Treasury of the target village is destroyed. Thus, you can either destroy the Treasury and then send a hero afterward to retrieve the plan; or you can send a combined catapult+hero attack to destroy the Treasury and retrieve the plan simultaneously. Once you have the World Wonder plan, other players will probably try to take it from you. It is highly recommended that you continually move the plan around within your own empire by "stealing" it from your own villages with your hero, but remember to rebuild the Treasure Chamber in case an emergency location change is needed, you do not want to be caught with no more treasuries left with an incoming attack to capture it.

Higher taxes mean more money per peasant, but accordingly, it will generate unpopularity. The 'very cruel' range will allow the maximum amount of gold, but it decreases overall popularity with -16. As opposed to taxes, bribes can be handed out to peasants to gain popularity. However, it also results in bank reduction. When running out of gold, bribes won't have any effects neither on the treasury nor on the popularity balance. The treasury needs 10 stone to build.

Should you choose to delete a Treasury, any Gold left on the floor drops onto the empty tiles, waiting to be picked up by the first passer by. Note: At the start of levels, you may notice that your total wealth differs from the amount in your Treasuries. This is because your starting Gold is treated as a separate stockpile, to be used up before the Gold in your Treasuries. in many cases where gold is plentiful or if there is a gem vein, but it is very far from your main treasure; a few treasury tiles should be built close by so your imps can efficently mine the gold. You can then manually pick it up with the hand of evil and dump it on your dungeon heart (which should fill, and then the gold on the heart is taken to your main treasury by other imps). The few treasury tiles you made for the process are sold later if the gold veins are mined out, or left there for later if it is a gem vein and you are done mining for the time.
