  • Ishiji was a samurai of the bakufu and part of the Mimawarigumi during the early days of the bakumatsu. While acting as a bodyguard for Kyoto official Shigekura Jūbei along with fellow samurai Kiyosato Akira in 1864, Ishiji encountered and was swiftly slain by the Hitokiri Himura Battōsai, who went on to kill the other two in Ishiji's party.
