abstract
  • Phantoms appeared in The Cloud, a Spanish story of undetermined canonicity that was published in 1986 under the MyComyc label. The Star Wars author Abel G. Peña, who translated the story in English for the first time in 2013, chose to render the original Spanish term fantasmas not as the more common equivalent "ghosts" but the more literal "phantoms," paying homage to the title of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. In the 1997 novel Galaxy of Fear: Ghost of the Jedi, it was stated that Force ghosts may not always have a clearly defined appearance. Before assuming a Human likeness, the ghost of Aidan Bok manifested itself as a floating, shapeless figure made of greyish energy. The phantoms shown in The Cloud share similarities with the shapeless Force ghosts described in Ghost of the Jedi.
