In 1981, the skilled defenceman signed with the Vancouver Canucks and tried his luck in the NHL. His North American stay wasn't particularly successful, as he didn't play a full season; he only took part in 38 games with Vancouver in 1981-82 and split time between Vancouver, the Quebec Nordiques and the AHL's Fredericton Express the next season, before he choose to go back home with Södertälje. The move turned out to be an excellent one for Eldebrink, who won the Elitserien championship in 1985 and was named league MVP in 1988 and 1989; additionally, he won the Guldpucken in 1985. Anders left Södertälje in 1990 to join EHC Kloten of the NLA, with whom he won thrice the NLA Championship, in 1993, 1994 and 1995. The next season, he returned to Södertälje, with which he ended his playing career in 1998. Eldebrink played 165 games for the Swedish National Team. He took part in the 1984 and 1987 Canada Cups, won the gold medal at the 1987 World Championship and a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics. After his playing career, Eldebrink became Sports Manager of the Sodertalje SK team in 1998. Today, Eldebrink is the head coach of the Kloten Flyers.
