| abstract | - Holt Charnil was selected for the Agricultural Corps in 40 BBY. He remained with the AgriCorps until the Purge, when he escaped and went into hiding in Wild Space. A few years prior to the Battle of Yavin, he found Kali Suur, a Nautolan orphan with a stronger Force connection than his own, and took it upon himself to train her. After the battle of Endor, Holt took Kali and joined the Jedi Order, where he discovered that his memories of the old Order more than compensated for his weakness in the Force. After Kali was knighted, he never took another Padawan, choosing instead to be a group teacher, especially for younglings. He was a mentor to Ashin Varanin. Charnil was one of those who escaped Coruscant's Jedi Temple when the third Death Star attacked; later, he served on the Ithorian herd ship and then participated in building Onderon's Jedi enclave. Later, with the majority of the Jedi Order, he moved to the much larger Temple on Ossus. He is called 'Master Charnil' because he is a very old teacher, not because he is a Jedi Master.
