  • Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is a 2002 American animated epic western drama film that was released by DreamWorks. The film, written by John Fusco and directed by Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. In contrast to the way animals are portrayed in an anthropomorphic style in other animated features, Spirit and his fellow horses communicate with each other through sounds and body language. Spirit's thoughts are narrated by his voice actor Matt Damon, but otherwise he has no dialogue. This is the only hand-drawn DreamWorks film to be nominated for the Best Animated Feature Oscar.
  • Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron was released in cinemas on May 24, 2002, and earned $122.6 million on a $80 million budget.
  • Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is a 2002 animated film that was released by DreamWorks Pictures. It follows the adventures of a young Mustang stallion with a spirit that won't give up as he struggles for his freedom.
  • (The Dreamworks-uary logo is shown, before showing clips from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. The song "Brothers Under the Sun" by Bryan Adams plays throughout) Doug (vo): Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron... [Tries to say the word "Cimarron", but has difficulty doing so, before giving up] Spirit. In some ways, this is one of Dreamworks' most adult films, in that it doesn't really have talking animals, it doesn't have a ton of singing animals, either. But it also has a narration by Matt Damon, odd choice, and a soundtrack that mostly consists of...80s-style songs, also weird choice. Does it all come together? Well, yes and no.
