In the April 2748 elections, Lorraine Tizya-Elias announced that she expected major losses for her party. Her thoughts proved correct. She came in fourth place in her bid for Praetor winning just under 7%. The party also lost 88 seats or 22%. Despite calls for her resignation, her popularity quickly rejuvenated. In the March 2752 elections, she came in third in her bid for Praetor winning 19%. The party also gained 48 seats or 12%. The NDP also claimed the Terrarokka governorship. However, just months later, Tizya-Elias forced Praetor Jean Pierre Heyoka to resign. She won 49% of the vote on the first ballot and 60% on the second. She also helped her party win 201 seats in the Senate. This was over 50%. She was able to quickly vote in a cabinet following the August elections. She also gained the Gevaro governorship. On May 1, 2756, just months before the upcoming federal election, Tizya-Elias announced her decision not to seek reelection in the upcoming vote. She announced the nomination of Education and Culture Minister Daniel Singh. Lorraine Tizya-Elias, at the age of 74, was widely considered to win a second term, but with a reduced majority. She did, however, decide to remain in the leadership until after the elections. She left office in August of 2756 to be replaced as Praetor by Singh. However, she opted to continue her term as leader of the NDP until Singh's first term ended.
