  • Watermelon is probably the most popular in the world today. There are over 50 known varieties of watermelon, but the four best known types of watermelon are allsweet, ice-box, seedless and yellow-fleshed. As its name would suggest, a Watermelon's flesh is composed of 92% water and 8% sugar. This gives this melon a very refreshing taste which is accented by a sweet flavor. Recently research has shed new light on its potential health benefits. Watermelon contains high concentrations of lycopene, an antioxidant that may help reduce the risks of cancer and other diseases.
  • Watermelons can be used to fish at the Pet Society Pond. They will catch common fish and decorative / junk items. NOTE: When fishing, there is often some confusion between this Watermelon (which looks like a slice of watermelon) and the Melon (which looks like a whole watermelon). • Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum & Nakai, family Cucurbitaceae) can be both the fruit and the plant of a vine-like (scrambler and trailer) herb originally from southern Africa and one of the most common types of melon. This flowering plant produces a special type of fruit known by botanists as a pepo, a berry, which has a thick rind (exocarp) and fleshy center (mesocarp and endocarp); pepos are derived from an inferior ovary and are characteristic of the Cucurbitaceae. The watermelon fruit, loosely considered a type of melon (although not in the genus Cucumis), has a smooth exterior rind (green, yellow, and sometimes white) and a juicy, sweet interior flesh (usually pink, but sometimes orange, yellow, red, and sometimes green if not ripe).
  • It is not known when the plant was first cultivated, but Zohary and Hopf note evidence of its cultivation in the Nile Valley from at least as early as the second millennium BC. Although watermelon is not depicted in any Egyptian hieroglyphic text nor does any ancient writer mention it, finds of the characteristically large seed are reported in Twelfth dynasty sites; numerous watermelon seeds were recovered from the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun.
  • When planted in the corresponding flower patch, a nasturtium seed will help protect the growing watermelons from disease; alternatively, a gardener can be paid 10 curry leaves to watch over a watermelon plant and ensure it grows. Like pineapples, watermelons cannot be consumed whole; players must first use a knife to cut the watermelon into three slices. Each slice heals 5% of your base Hitpoints level. At level 80 Hitpoints or higher, one watermelon will restore 15 Hitpoints assuming all three slices are consumed.
  • This hybrid strain yields watermelon flavored buds that are dense and large. With a slight hashy undertone this strain has replaced many heavy yielders for growers looking for better potency and flavor with large yields. 55-60 Days Maturity. This is an awesome specimen of vigor meets quality, definitely a commercial connoisseur product, forms a dense bush and flowers with long thick colas. The taste will melt you with its combination of watermelon/fruity like grape but hashy..mmm Not for a busy day, body stone, good for relaxation and sleep. stock up the munchies cupboard..
  • Once a watermelon has hit the ground it will explode, just as if it was a Grenade. Watermelons can also be useful: if you can get a monkey to throw one at you during your faceoff with the stone golems inside the temple, the exploding fruit can knock out the golem instead of you, without having to try tricking them to get into the trap doors on the floor.

  • Ah. It appears it is my time in the limelight. Allow me to recount my illustrious life. I was once a lonely little fruit sitting with a pile of my wondrous brethren in a quiet little stall in Xeno Nui's open air market. If I may clarify, this was in Faxis Beach. It is not easy being a watermelon. To be frank, I had resigned myself to a life of solitude, until the day when I would be cracked apart, eaten, and left to rot. Such is the life of a watermelon. But, not for this particular watermelon. A kind Toa of Sonics took in this poor fruit and cared for me as if I were her own child, constantly petting me and carrying me in her arms. It was the start of something incredible. A new epoch had dawned upon me and I seized upon the chance. That Toa was none other that Amea. After that fateful day, Amea and I were inseparable and we ruled over the Kingdom of Fruit side-by-side, as rightful King and Queen of the Fruits. We were adored and loved and we ruled justly for many a decade. However, all good things come to an end. My lifespan was pitifully short, and I soon felt the early stages of rot overcoming me. However, the Toa who had taken me in was just as resourceful as she was kind. She gently pried open me, and planted my seeds in the soft, loamy earth. Before long, my descendants began to experience the same love and compassion I myself had. I can die happy, knowing that Amea would continue to love and care for watermelons her whole life. Here be the end of the glorious saga of Watermelon.

Thus, as a food source, watermelons are a cheaper alternative to conventional mid-range food items such as monkfish for those with at least level 80 Hitpoints. It is possible to have a near-full inventory of watermelons (leaving two slots open in which to receive the slices) and slice them when required. The drawback, however, is that a relatively lengthy animation plays when slicing a watermelon, preventing the player from any concurrent actions or movement for roughly two seconds. Consuming the entire watermelon is also done in three bites, which causes unnecessary delays during combat. Other uses for watermelons include being used as an ingredient in summer pies, though players need level 95 Cooking to make these. When placed in a compost bin, watermelons are one of the cheapest items which will make supercompost. A watermelon is also used in the creation of a scarecrow (head). Players are able to pay 6 watermelons to a gardener to watch over a growing jangerberry bush, or 10 to watch over a growing pineapple tree.
