  • The United Rebel Front (URF), often regarded as the Misguided Children of Earth by the UNSC and often called the Insurrectionist Movement, was a Human splinter group that openly opposed the UNSC and their established institutions with the use of arms and various other tactics. Having origins in the Insurrection of Humanity (c. Late 25th Century), the Insurrection spawned many Rebel groups, with the United Rebel Front being at the forefront and the Eridanus Rebels close behind. Established in the late 25th century by several disgruntled UNSC officers, the main aim of the dissident faction was to engineer the total downfall of the "corrupt" UNSC and liberate the oppressed colonies from the UEG's control. Originally thought as a group of discontented and rambling colonists by the UNSC, the URF changed their opinion when the group to be a highly capable and well organized faction that continually draws in likeminded volunteers and sympathizers to fight for their cause. The United Rebel Front had a very secretive yet powerful leadership, a triad of three Generals. However, one of their leaders, General Howard Graves would meet his end at the Raid on Camp New Hope where a piece of steel had lodged itself into his brain after an Asteroidea Anti-Personnel Mine had detonated while interrogating captured SPARTANs. It was later believed that the United Rebel Front was dissoluted as most, if not all of the Rebel Forces were killed. However, the URF would resurrect itself a decade later, this time, with a new set of ex-UNSC officials and charismatic dissidents as their leaders. This group would later be called the Comittee of Five. The United Rebel Front mainly used weapons and various equipment manufactured by the UNSC acquired through the Black Market. The URF was supported by the sympathetic United Trade Union, who manufactured weapons and other types of equipment and shipped them to the URF at various intervals. It wasn't a surprise to see UTU weaponry and ships in the URF's hands. The sympathetic company was able avoid detection from the UNSC through several means, such as bribing shipping officials and smuggling their illegal cargo. For several years their acts went without incident, however the UNSC became aware of the company's dealings with the URF when the UNSC detained a UTU freighter for containing suspicious cargo. Upon initial inspection, the freighter was deemed clean but was later disproven when several hidden crates were discovered containing weapons marked for URF usage. With this discovery at hand, the UNSC went to great
