Synopsis
  • Lt. Kornell
  • A sea captain orders his ship to pull along side a ghost ship to board. Once the gangplank is down, a swarm of ferocious rats dash across. Firefly is below in his cabin and hears the commotion and springs into action.
  • Big Nick the Greek frames Captain Casey, who is then kicked off the police force. One by one, Bob Phantom "pops" members of his gang up to the clouds. Each time threatening Big Nick is next, unless he clears Casey's name. With no where to hide, and afraid of going "up," Big Nick does confess and Casey gets his job back.
  • Once again, Sergeant McGinty places the Black Hood under arrest and behind bars. Barbara is fed up with seeing him get kicked around by the police. She does a write up of the hero with "authentic pictures" for the morning edition. The mayor reads the article and wants the Black Hood released. With Barbara's publicity stunt, everyone is praising the Black Hood. Soon enough, Hollywood is knocking on Barbara's door, and would like to make a movie about the hero. Barbara and Kip head west to be part of the film crew. During filming, the actor portraying the Wasp , is knocked out in the back alley, and a "new" masked Wasp joins the film crew. The Black Hood stumbles on the victim in the alley and realizes there's some foul play going on. Meanwhile, the "new" Wasp is being filmed as he is about to stab his next victim. The Black Hood leaps on stage and the camera's keep rolling. After the struggle the Wasp is unmasked, revealing a washed up actor who continues to shout, he is still "the greatest actor."
Notes
  • * Director Frank Kopra, in the Black Hood story, is a tribute to Frank Capra . * The Kardak story was written by a comic fan from Ohio .
