- "Attacks on the outbuildings. Three villages burned!" Lady Dorna is near tears. "I've met Lord Gernert. What could possibly bring him to do this?"
- "I have good people here," Lady Dorna tries to assure Eutimio in a quavering voice. "My lord would never leave the rock undefended."
- Lady Dorna looks down. "When he left, he told me that I had to hold the Rock on my own. King Tommen's reign is too fragile for my lord to leave him."
