  • In 2370, DaiMon Bok used a probe of this type to submit a holographic message to Captain Jean-Luc Picard aboard the USS Enterprise-D, warning him that he would seek revenge for the apparent death of his son at the Battle of Maxia fifteen years earlier. After running an analysis of the probe's hull in an attempt to determine its origin, Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge later determined it had it traveled through a dichromic nebula, was exposed to gravimetric distortion, and passed within a light year of a class 4 pulsar. With that information in hand, he was able to locate a matching nebula in the Dorias Cluster, where several more probes of this type were discovered, along with Bok's Marauder. (TNG: "Bloodlines" ) The Ferengi probe as seen in "Bloodlines" is a reuse of the Angosian escape pod model from "The Hunted" . For more information, see TNG studio models.
