  • right|300px Black Chamber ist die Gruppierung, gegen die Solid Snake in Metal Gear: Ghost Babel kämpft.
  • Black Chamber was a special forces group founded after the Outer Heaven Uprising to act as a sort of "shadow FOXHOUND." After Solid Snake's success with Operation Intrude N313, FOXHOUND became too well known to the general populace and was therefore under closer surveillance by rival intelligence bodies. Black Chamber was founded to perform operations that FOXHOUND would do normally, but they weren't under surveillance like FOXHOUND was at the time. Several of their activities that they performed included assassinations of anti-American foreign leaders, removal of domestic civilians engaged in anti-establishment activities, interfering in various civil wars and strifes for America's behalf, and other black operations.
  • The thirteenth hallow is fifteen paces across and has a pentagram inscribed on the floor, iron braziers at each of its points, and sconces on the walls. In this chamber nearly a century ago, the diabolist Inumbrus met his end against a Wizard’s March of Hoplites and Quaesitores while completing his vilest ritual. The walls of the chamber bleed a reddish-black, viscous ichor every All-Hallows’ Eve, the anniversary of Inumbrus’ demise. This contains Vim vis, but is tainted with the Infernal. Possession of it will draw the attention of demons, and deeds completed or spells cast using it will inevitably be turned to evil ends.

Several of their activities that they performed included assassinations of anti-American foreign leaders, removal of domestic civilians engaged in anti-establishment activities, interfering in various civil wars and strifes for America's behalf, and other black operations. Two years before the Galuade Incident, Black Chamber was ordered to retrieve a U.S. built Metal Gear, which had been seized by South American terrorists at the time. Black Chamber succeeded in destroying this Metal Gear, but the United States Government feared that Metal Gear's construction and Black Chamber's existence would be revealed to the public, so the unit was attacked by FOXHOUND (under Colonel Campbell's command, acting under false information) shortly after their return home. Only five members survived the attack. They vowed revenge against Solid Snake, Colonel Campbell and "Anonymous," the man who had ordered their termination. Four of them became mercenaries, and the remaining surviving member doctored his name, documentation, and underwent plastic surgery to gain a new life as the Director of Operations at the CIA's Africa Desk while secretly maintaining contact with his comrades. They would later resurfaced as terrorists during the Galuade Incident, in which the remaining five members were killed.

The deeds of Inumbrus were many and ghastly, and it is possible that some of his works survive to trouble the world to this day. Some of these works might be found hidden within the tumbled walls of the ruined covenant.
