| abstract | - Carla Dante is a character portrayed by Jackie Geary in the ABC crime series Castle. Carla Dante, known in Mafia circles as "Carla Coldblood", was, as her nom de guerre implies, an extremely ruthless and effective hitman in the employ of the Spolano crime family. In "A Death in the Family", she proves to be the torturer and murderess of her employer, Dr. Leeds, and also attempts to take out Jimmy "The Rat" Moran, her primary target, although in the latter endeavor she is frustrated by Beckett and Castle, who have had his drip disconnected, meaning that the poison she injects into it never reaches him. Carla, in her hunt for Moran, discovered that Dr. Leeds had performed the surgery to give him a new face, and applied for a job in the doctor's office using the stolen identity of Maggie Dowd, a Seattle nurse with whom she had no other connection. After her botched hit, Carla elects to turn State's evidence, rather than face the twenty years to life sentence "Hard Candy" informs her is the going rate for her crime.
