Tecklenberg taught the sport as part of his training curriculum at Starfleet Academy. It was popular among the cadets of Nebula Squadron, especially Timothy Sinclair, and remained an unofficial Academy sport even after their graduation. Tecklenberg and Sinclair often hyperbolically described the sport as "a fusion of soccer, rugby, American football, basketball, hockey, Parrises squares, Velocity, Kal-toh, Parcheesi, poker and tiddlywinks."
