  • Dawn Rogers, Senior Associate Athletic Director at Arizona State University, announced today the resignation of men’s and women’s swimming head coach Michael Chasson. A national search for his replacement will begin immediately. For the time being, fourth year assistant coach Simon Percy will serve as the interim head coach. "We have respectfully accepted Coach Chasson's decision to resign and do so realizing that he served the ASU community in a most dedicated and thoughtful fashion for over a decade,” said Vice President for University Athletics Lisa Love. “Our varsity men's and women's swimming programs benefitted by his leadership." “I’m resigning to pursue other opportunities,” Chasson said. “I want to devote full time to my club team. I’ve enjoyed my time at ASU, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with some great student-athletes. The administration has been very understanding of the decision I have made today.” Chasson arrived at ASU in 1998 as the first coach to officially head both the men’s and women’s swimming programs. He guided both teams top-25 national finishes in his first year, and both teams achieved top-10 finishes during his career. Over his 11 years at ASU, the men had nine top-20 national finishes and the women had six. He coached 52 All-Americans, seven individual Pac-10 champions and one national champion (Attila Czene, 200 IM, 2000). In the classroom, Chasson’s swimmers have been awarded 166 Pac-10 All-Academic accolades.
