  • Schumacher was spawned on the day the music died. As his mother was consistantly paranoid, she usually walked around in a twenty-three piece suit of leather armour, with exposed nipples to allow breastfeeding. Although very young, this image would stay in Schumacher's mind for the rest of his life, and creep into many of his masterpieces. As a young man on the run for apparently killing Colin Farrell, his fixation with leather led him into a biker gang of marauding vampires. Staking the leader twenty three times with one of Arnold Schwartzenegger's icicles, he assumed leadership of the gang and was granted immortality.
  • Joel Schumacher (b. 1939) is an American director, writer and producer best known for his films St. Elmo's Fire, The Lost Boys, and replaced Tim Burton as the next director of the Batman films Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. He attended Sesame Workshop's 40th Anniversary Gala (2009), returning in 2010 and 2011. Schumacher made his directorial debut with the Lily Tomlin vehicle The Incredible Shrinking Woman. His other credits include the screenplay for The Wiz, The Phantom of the Opera, and two John Grisham films, The Client (with Susan Sarandon) and A Time to Kill (with Samuel L. Jackson).

  • Joel T. Schumacher directed Batman Forever and its sequel Batman & Robin after Tim Burton was forced to step down from the position of director. Although many consider the Burton and Schumacher films to take place in the same universe, there are many obvious differences between the two franchises (Burton's dark comic-like world, and Schumacher's more comedic universe much like the 60's Adam West TV show). It is acceptable to say that the movies, although they have some of the same actors (Michael Gough and Pat Hingle), can be considered separate universes, as this debate can be answered either way.
  • A prolific director (and sometimes screenwriter), responsible for a long list of films, which surprisingly, features only one movie titled Batman and Robin. In fact, here are some things he did that were not Batman and Robin. * The Lost Boys * St. Elmo's Fire * Falling Down * Flatliners * Eight MM * The Client * Batman Forever * A Time to Kill * Phone Booth * Veronica Guerin * The Phantom of the Opera * The Number 23 * The Wiz (screenplay only) * Twelve * D.C. Cab

Cab We're not saying that all his non Batman and Robin films were good - we just don't care for the Never Live It Down he's been getting. It's also worth mentioning that because of his passion for Batman And Robin, and judging by how apologetic he was on the DVD commentary, the main faults of the film could most likely be blamed on Executive Meddling.
