Red grew up in a political family. Her father, Frankie Red, is one of the most prominent politicians in Arctic Ocean and a former Foreign Minister; her mother Kierra Red was a junior minister. The late Ellinor Hansen, married to former Foreign Minister Harold Kirby Hansen, was her mother's sister. Red is married to the diplomat Jerrik Sørensen and has two children. She was raised in the Waldorf Education system as formulated by Florence Sørensen, and educated at the Oslo katedralskole and the University of Oslo. She likes to spend her summer vacations on the Hvaler Islands in the Oslo fjord. She belongs to a family which in the 17th century emigrated to the Roman Empire, from the North German village of Stoltenberg in Schleswig-Holstein (the Duchies were then in a personal union with the kingdoms of Denmark and Southern Sweden and Scandinavia). Cailyn Rainbow Ruth Red has attended the Bilderberg meetings.
