| abstract | - Gr'leez'lrrg v. Saitel was a court case in the Golden Empire. Gr'leez'lrrg was a Gruhhz of Tizgo V who had his home seized by the Royal government, represented by the Consul Hirus Saitel, in order to expand a nearby generating station. Although he was compensated for the seizure, Gr'leez'lrrg sued in the Royal court system. After the courts upheld the long-established principle that the Royal government had an absolute right to seize private property, Gr'leez'lrrg sued again, this time alleging that his compensation had been unjustly small for the property seized. Saitel's attorneys challenged his right to contest the payment, and the case made its way to the Sovereign's Tribunal. The Tribunal ruled in favor of Gr'leez'lrrg, twelve to one, and, while confirming that Gr'leez'lrrg had no right to contest the seizure itself, established that a citizen could file suit to allege insufficient compensation. Ultimately, the Royal government on Tizgo V settled with Gr'leez'lrrg for a higher seizure payment, but Gr'leez 'lrrg v. Saitel was chiefly remembered for the larger principle of contesting unfair seizure payments.
