  • The Condor Legion was still active in Spain when the Second World War broke out in Europe in 1938. They were successful in leading the assault on Gibraltar, but as the war in France began to heat up, they were virtually withdrawn from Spain. Although many Spaniards knew the Legion was only there as technicians to refine their own fighting techniques, they were the most highly respected unit in the war, next to the Lincoln Brigade.
  • The Legion Condor was the name given to the intervention force that mostly air Nazi Germany sent to assist General Franco in Spanish Civil War.
