  • Seventy-Fifth Rule
rdfs:comment
  • In early 2355, the Seventy-Fifth Rule was assigned to perform a mineral survey of the Maxia Zeta star system. Following the completion of the mission large deposits of dilithium, topaline, latinum and verterium were discovered. Unfortunately, the Seventy-Fifth Rule was unable to take advantage of the potential profit as they encountered the USS Stargazer in orbit of Maxia Zeta V. The ship's name presumably refers to the 75th Ferengi Rule of Acquisition, which states, "Home is where the heart is, but the stars are made of latinum."

Flax had his tactical officer fire on the Stargazer before the Federation starship registered their presence and they left the Stargazer badly damaged with the first few volleys. Unfortunately, Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Stargazer was able to execute a last-minute warp maneuver which fooled the Seventy-Fifth Rule's sensors enough for the Stargazer to deliver a final volley of phasers and photon torpedoes which destroyed the scout. (TNG novel: The Buried Age) The ship's name presumably refers to the 75th Ferengi Rule of Acquisition, which states, "Home is where the heart is, but the stars are made of latinum."
