Unfortunately, the Seventy-Fifth Rule was unable to take advantage of the potential profit as they encountered the USS Stargazer in orbit of Maxia Zeta V. Flax had his tactical officer fire on the Stargazer before the Federation starship registered their presence and they left the Stargazer badly damaged with the first few volleys. Unfortunately, Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Stargazer was able to execute a last-minute warp maneuver which fooled the Seventy-Fifth Rule's sensors enough for the Stargazer to deliver a final volley of phasers and photon torpedoes which destroyed the scout.
