  • 6S is a learning institution in the Whateley Universe. Goodkind International apparently recruits scientists and researchers from there. Most of what is known about it comes from a forum post by Bek D. Corbin: 'Six S' stands for the Susan Strang Superior Student Science Study Seminar (or something like that, I don't have my notes on it at the moment). It's a Genius School that we're developing as a sort of rival to Whateley. The Strang Seminar, or 6S (Their Motto: "6S = SUCCESS!" ) was developed twelve years ago in San Francisco by Dr. Susan Strang, a noted 'Adventuring Scientist' of the Seventies and Eighties, as a place where genius-level students of Junior High and Senior High School age with a talent in the Sciences could study, learning at the own rate while they socialized more normally (please note the 'more normally') than they would at an adult college, with state of the art equipment and research facilities. 6S does not allow Devisors or Gadgeteers to study there. This was not (originally) intended as a snub at mutants, but rather a way of getting the MCO off their institutional ass. However, once that statement was made, the Goodkinds with their 'generous' (read: LARGE!) scholarships and endowments has rather made the statement that 6S is an answer to the mutant encroachment in the sciences posed by 'Science Freaks'. The Goodkinds have also established other, similar schools in the Midwest, Great Lakes area, South, and Northeast, that are often referred to as '6S schools'. Dr. Strang does NOT like that analogy, nor does she appreciate the implication that she's training a cadre of future Goodkind Labs employees, and she has come down quite severely on the Goodkind lawyers weaseling Employment Obligation clauses into their scholarships. There is, of course, an Intermural rivalry between 6S and Whateley, but it's more 'Harvard vs Yale' than 'Nazis vs Soviets'; at least, that's how Carson and Strang are trying to play it.
