  • Vince Colletta (born October 15, 1923 - died 1991) was a highly prolific American comic book artist, best known as one of industry legend Jack Kirby's frequent inkers during the 1950s-1960s Silver Age of comic books. Colletta entered the comics field in 1952, continuing to work on many and varied titles for DC and Marvel Comics well into the late 1980s, including serving as the inker on the G.I. Joe and the Transformers limited series. Steve Ditko hated him.[1]

  • Vincent Joseph Colletta (October 15, 1923 – June 3, 1991) was a veteran artist for Marvel Comics who worked on dozens of projects as both a penciller and an embellisher, including one issue in the Marvel Star Wars comic series. Colletta is best known for his inking talents and for utilizing a distinctive heavy, line-style that made him a heavily sought-after talent in the field of comics. Colletta began working in comics in 1952 as a penciller, mainly on romance titles, for several publishers including Archie Comics, Charlton Comics, and Atlas Comics. In the 1960s he began working on superhero titles, focusing chiefly on inking, including the Marvel title Daredevil. It was around that time that he first collaborated with penciller Jack Kirby, and they worked on Journey into Mystery starring Thor for six years. When Kirby moved to DC Comics in the 1970s, Colletta moved with him and the two continued to produce work together on several projects including Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen and The New Gods. He was also the regular inker for Wonder Woman from 1973 to 1980. In 1976 Colletta was named DC's art director, a title he held until 1979. He continued to ink on a variety of projects for both Marvel and DC until the late 1980s.
