  • Cassius' name was pulled from the Goblet of Fire and he was announced as Hogwarts' champion, though was shocked to see that Harry Potter was entered into the tournament as well. Although initially horrified that a Slytherin was chosen as Hogwarts' champion, the other houses managed to put aside their differences and support Cassius in the name of school unity. He was tipped off by Harry about the First Task, and in return, he gave him the tip on how to discover the clue hidden within the golden egg for the Second Task. Tied for first place with Harry, Cassius hoped to beat Harry in the Final Task, but ended up being attacked by an Acromantula and being saved by his fellow Hogwarts champion. They finished the Task together and both took hold of the Triwizard Cup, which transported them to the Little Hangleton graveyard. In the graveyard Cassius was murdered by Peter Pettigrew with the Killing Curse, on the orders of Lord Voldemort. Although Cassius was tragically killed, his death was not in vain, for the events in Little Hangleton graveyard that night had profound effect on the war to come. Seeing the death of their housemate; later finding out it was by the Dark Lord himself, Slytherins became afraid, as they realized that whether or not you are a pure-blood Slytherin, a spare is a spare. This became the wake-up call for Slytherin house and it was through Cassius' death that Slytherins began reaching out to the other houses, cutting off ties with their Death Eater families and standing in defence of Hogwarts in the final battle of the Second Wizarding War. After the war, a statue was built in his honor, and was unveiled by Headmistress Minerva McGonagall.
