Synopsis
  • Reprints from the Big Top comic strip
  • Reprints from the Lala Plaooza comic strip
  • Reprints from the Mickey Finn comic strip
  • "A preview glimpse into the future gives the ghost breaker detective a chance to meet some ghosts of tomorrow, and learn thereby the future of the human race." Zero and his friend, and fellow occultist, Dr. Potsam collaborate to send Zero on a tour of the future, carrying him by means of occult ether waves through time and space, enabling him to first view the distant future, and then live temporarily reincarnated in it. Hostile Martians are in charge in the future; future-Zero has mystic powers of both ages, including a telekinetic whammy and astounding acrobatic skills. There is fighting and romance in the distant future, with freedom-fighting guerrilla heroine Lanya, then Zero is back in the present, now persuaded that Dr. Potsam's theories are sound.
  • After a mix-up at a pet shop, Darrel Dane revisits the store, only the find the shopkeeper on the floor, beaten to death. Then he meets the guy's lovely daughter Jane, who then asks Dane to be present at the reading of her father's will, which he soon is. The will bequeaths to Jane "the Treasure of the Black Albatross." None of them seem to know where that is, and none of them asks how the dead guy claimed to own it. Clues to the murderer's identity are gleaned from a parrot , which "witnessed" the murder, and it turns out to be the peg-legged Captain Rocco. Along the way to working this out, Doll Man gets small with no visible use of potion or pill, and steps out from under his business suit, in a waterfront saloon, then gets into a fight in which he knocks out three hench-sailors, then pursues Rocco to the pet store, fights a store-full of pets , then gets big again in the pet store, once again wearing the same suit that we last saw on the floor of the saloon. Dane sets out in pursuit on foot, now accompanied by the parrot and a monkey. Captain Rocco's henchmen show up with a car and he's getting away, but the parrot follows the car, and Doll Man rides the parrot. They reach the bad guys' boarded-up hangout, there's a fight, the animals pitch in in their own ways, the bad guys end up knocked out, and are soon in custody. Darrel returns again to the pet shop, finds a treasure map just laying out amid the general clutter, goes to Jane's house and uncovers the treasure, a glittering pile of jewels and gold. At story's end, Jane has the treasure, Martha has a puppy, and Darrel has a monkey.
  • A reincarnated 18-century revolutionary colonial girl's living spirit, equipped with a magically-powered revolutionary-war-style 13-star U.S. flag, and with the very magically-powered Torch of Liberty itself, appeared in a cemetery in Philadelphia, fulfilling a prophecy in the process. She re-educated one treasonous schoolteacher, prevented a presidential assassination, averted the sinking of the S.S.Althea, and killed at least six Nazi 5th-columnist murderers, including Otto Fluger "master mind behind all plots." USA, the Spirit of Old Glory then vowed to carry on this work.
Notes
  • * Starting in this issue, Ace of Space has been replaced by USA the Spirit of Old Glory. This series ran for 7 issues, until Feature Comics #48, Sep 1941.
