  • Daejeon, also known as Tajon or Hanbat, is a Metropolitan City located in the center of South Korea. Daejeon currently is the 5th largest city in all of South Korea. Daejeon has a Government Complex called the Daejeon Government Complex (정부대전청사). Daejeon is the city that had the 1993 EXPO and also one of the cities where the 2002 World Cup Stadium is.

Daejeon is a particpant of the United Nations Environment Programme's Climate Neutral Network The city will host a children and youth climate meeting August 2009 ahead of the Copenhagen conference organized by UNEP. Under the overall vision of a "Low Carbon, Green City", Daejeon's climate change response plan focuses on the ten priority tasks, including producing energy from waste and promoting renewables and energy conservation. In the area of transport, the city is promoting cycling, public transport and low-carbon vehicles. The city has also pioneered a "carbon points" scheme, whereby businesses and organizations that reduce emissions get carbon credits from the city authorities.
