  • The Sail is an item from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. It is needed in order to utilize the wind to rapidly sail across the Great Sea. The sail has only one real purpose: to catch the wind to propel the King of Red Lions forward with amazing speed. When Link attempts to use the Sail on land, he merely takes it out and displays it, accomplishing nothing.

  • Sail (Most popularly known as Sailing) is a new skill on RuneScape that has been made by popular demand of players during the aftermath of the confirmation that Sailing isn't a real skill, and is a joke. It's the 3rd most popular skill of choice only behind Adventuring and Mounting due to it only be trained on water. Sail features brand new ports, such as Port Shilo, Port Menaphos, and many other ports. This is one of the few skills, you can use for transportation. But, not only this is used for Transportation, but it's also used for a new form of Combat, Sea Combat, PvP Sea Combat, Pirates and many others. You can also build your own ship, name it, change it's mast and command your crew. Like Mounting, Sail follows a new skill training system called 'Progressive Skill Training', which XP is gained through sailing the Seas. The current minimum requirement to be ranked (at approximately rank 550,312) on the hiscores for Mounting is level 35. As of 25 September 2010, only 1 player achieved level 99 in Sail, but no one have reached level 120 or 200 million experience in Sail yet. The current rankings are visible on the Runescape Hiscores page.
