  • Bruce Jacobi born Harold Bruce Jacubi (June 23, 1935 - February 4, 1987) was a NASCAR driver from Indianapolis, IN. He competed in twenty Sprint Cup Series events in his career, spanning from 1975 to 1983. Most of those races came in 1975, when Jacobi finished 25th in points after his only three career top-tens. Those top-ten efforts were bested by an 8th at Talladega. In 1983 Jacobi scored a last minute ride driving the #05 Pontiac owned by Dennis Taylor at Daytona during Speedweeks. Bruce started 33rd out of 35 cars in the first qualifier. On the fifth lap,he lost control in Turn 2,and flipped across the infield before stopping at the dirt embankment.He suffered injuries that resulted in him being in a coma for nearly four years before passing away.
